About Tear-n Tan

ABOUT

Born in Burma (now Myanmar) to a Chemist and Engineer, Tear-n took a far different path from the traditional science studies of her parents. With little interest in the sciences (or perhaps a major disliking for), Tan's love of art was fostered at an early age. With "fashion shoots" in her Los Angeles bedroom as a tween, she began her photography hobby with a cartridge film camera and lame poses.

After studying black and white photography in high school, she attended Pasadena City College and acquired her Associates degree in Photography along with a Photography certification. Tear-n then traveled to NYC to earn her BFA at the School of Visual Arts, with an emphasis in fine arts, documentary, and street fashion photography.

Tear-n was a regular contributing celebrity photog for the Scene Et Al, Los Angeles section of fashion/celeb publication Detour Magazine. Her work has also been published in InStyle, Cosmo, Glamour, Allure, People, Us, The Wall Street Journal, VillageVoice.com, and countless foreign pubs as well as various music sites including Brooklyn Vegan, Sentimentalist Magazine, and Girl About Town. She currently shoots for various photo agencies in Los Angeles and Paris as a celebrity, portrait, and live music photographer.

Based in New York City, Tear-n is currently focusing on video and Final Cut Pro editing, as well as her photography. She is also returning to her school passion of fashion photography, but is still in love with music photography, with hopes of doing more video as well. She never leaves the house without some visual recording device. When not shooting, she is working on her site, various blogs, or watching "The Devil Wears Prada" for the 9,000th time...That's all...
